Green Initiative
Our company is committed to reducing paper waster, energy consumption, and emissions. When it comes to comprehensive solutions for eco friendly printing system, we decided to choose Heidelberg system from the prepress, press, plates, chemicals, and consumables.
1. Reducing and avoiding CO2
Reducing paper waste
Paper waste accounts for roughly 90 percent of a print job’s CO2 footprint. Reducing paper waste is the main priority from cost saving and CO2 footprint reduction point of view. There are 2 approaches to achieve this goal:
Heidelberg Prinect Inpress Control adjusts color and register inline immediately, reducing paper consumption. The desired results are reached quickly and the press can often go straight into good sheet production. Other than minimizing startup waste, this system also cuts production times and lowers energy consumption.
Recycled fibers have similar properties to non recycled paper. Therefore, it makes sense to use paper with a high proportion of recycled materials. Whenever possible, we choose to use recycled paper. All of the waste paper after production will be sent to the recyclers.
Reducing energy consumption
Energy consumption during production has the second highest impact on CO2 emissions after paper. In the prepress process, Computer to Plate (CtP) systems consumes highest electrical energy in the plate setting and development stages. Heidelberg CtP has better productivity and minimum emissions compared to other brands.
In the press process, Heidelberg is the only printing press manufacturer to utilize sinusoidal synchronous main drive motors. As a result, the overall energy efficiency is improved by up to 30 percent compared to other popular motors. Reactive power (power that generally becomes waste heat) is greatly minimized.
2. Reducing and avoiding emissions
Reducing or, better still, avoiding emissions makes a key contribution to environmental protection and protects the health of employees.
The Saphira Chemfree plate offers environmentally friendly plate production without the use of developers and replenishers. On presses, Saphira Chemfree plates behave in exactly the same way as conventional plates. They can be used with standard inks and dampening solution. Unlike a conventional plate processor, the ‘wash/gum’ unit for Saphira Chemfree plates does not use a continuous water supply, and therefore saves plenty of water.
